Essential training requirement

This course is about understanding, combating and helping people who are being trafficked, exploited or used in modern slavery.

It examines different types of exploitation, how individuals become victim to abuse and what actions professionals should take to recognise victims and help them.

The training is essential for any professional who may come into contact with children, young people, or adults who may have been trafficked.

Subject Matter Experts

This course has been developed with ECPAT UK who are a leading children’s rights organisation campaigning against child trafficking and exploitation; and Pete Nelson, who works for West Yorkshire Police in the fight against human trafficking and is the longest serving professional in the field.

Also contributing to the course are Newport City Council, Lincolnshire Safeguarding Children Board and Lincolnshire Safeguarding Adults Board.

Virtual College are donating 10% of all sales of this course to ECPAT to help in the fight against child trafficking.

Award winning e-learning content

The content of this course has been created by an award winning e-learning team development team and includes visual, audio and video to engage learners. Reflective practice, case studies and work-based scenarios encourage professionals to consider how they would apply this information into their everyday life.

The design of the course is unique with a considered look and feel to appropriately cover a sensitive subject. Hand-drawn illustrations are prevalent throughout the training and the two main characters, Lewa (a 13 year old girl from Nigeria) and Astrit (a 31 year old man from Albania), take the learner through the course.

The course is CPD accredited and should take 2 to 3 hours to complete. On completion you will be able to download a certificate.
